# Your contribution limit

> What unverified and verified accounts can each do on ratemyflat.

Anyone can browse homes and read Healthy Homes Scores. What you can contribute depends on your account status — and verifying your tenancy unlocks the most useful actions.

## Unverified accounts

As soon as you sign up for a free account, you can start contributing. As an unverified user, you can:

* Search for any home in Aotearoa.
* Write a review for any home you've lived in.

Unverified reviews are public and helpful, but they don't carry the same weight in the home's score as verified ones.

## Verified accounts

Verifying your tenancy proves your feedback comes from first-hand experience. Once verified, you can:

* **Carry more weight:** Your reviews count for more in the home's Healthy Homes Score.
* **Upload photos:** Add photos of the home — particularly useful as evidence for compliance (or non-compliance) with Healthy Homes Standards, like photos of heating sources or insulation.
* **Show as Verified:** A "Verified" badge appears next to the home in **My Homes**.

## Why these distinctions exist

The system rewards proof. A verified review is one the platform knows is backed by an actual tenancy — which is what makes the Healthy Homes Score useful to the next person looking. Verification keeps reviews honest without ever making your identity public.
