Browsing vs Contributing
Access to information on ratemyflat is open to everyone. You can search for a home and view its Healthy Homes Score, tenant reviews, and basic home details (like bedroom count and estimated rent) without needing to sign in. To maintain the integrity of our data, we require an account for any actions that involve adding or changing home profile information. Sign up to contribute reviews and verify the homes you have lived in.Contributing a review
The platform grows more useful as more people contribute. Here’s how it works:Search and Review
Find a home you have lived in and share your experience across seven domains — heating, ventilation, insulation, draughts, moisture, day-to-day liveability, and the neighbourhood.
Verify your tenancy
Upload a document (like a tenancy agreement or bond receipt) to prove you lived there. Our verification team reviews these documents to confirm their authenticity.
Boost the score
Once verified, your review carries more weight in the home’s overall score. This helps future tenants trust that the information is accurate.
Anonymity Guarantee: While we encourage verification to keep our data honest, your identity is never revealed to the public or other actors without your express consent. Your review remains anonymous.
The Homeowner and Property Manager Path
If you own or manage a rental, you can “claim” the home on ratemyflat.- Claim the home: Use the “I own or manage this home” option on the home profile.
- Verify ownership: Upload a record of title or a management agreement.
- Update details: Once our verification team approves your request, you can edit home details, add photos, and showcase the quality of the home including compliance with the Healthy Homes Standards.
Verified vs Unverified reviews
Any tenant can leave a review, but we distinguish between those who have provided proof of tenancy and those who haven’t.- Verified Reviews: These come from users who have uploaded evidence of their tenancy. These reviews are the gold standard and have the greatest impact on a home’s reputation and score.
- Unverified Reviews: These are still visible to the community but do not carry the same weight as verified feedback.
